Volunteers

How to become a volunteer with Good Neighbours

Can you offer some of your time to help?

We are always looking for new volunteers as we take on more clients. You can offer as much or as little time as suits you. You may wish to be a regular volunteer or help less often. Our volunteers include both men and women, spanning a wide age range. We need both volunteer drivers and coordinators and expenses are fully reimbursed.

Could you be a volunteer driver ?

Most requests from clients involve driving, usually on weekdays and during the normal working day. We are occasionally asked to provide help at the weekend or in the evening.

Could you be a coordinator?

Our coordinators work from home and match requests for help from clients with volunteer drivers.  They currently work a one week (Mon-Fri) in six/seven rota but this is flexible and we will always look to work in a way that suits you.  There is no need to sit at home the whole time.  You can go out to do the shopping, drop off kids etc, and pick up phone messages on your return. Basic computer skills are needed but full training will be given.

Insurance

We belong to the Good Neighbours Network  –  GNN  – which covers over 100 groups in Hampshire. GNSS pays for our Public Liability and other insurances that cover our volunteers.  If you drive, then we rely on your own motor insurance policy to cover you and we ask you to let them know about your volunteer driving.
